In his newest sustained investigation, "Moving on and Moving Backwards", Julian Henriquez explores the grief of growing up, the feeling of missing who you once were, the realization of childhood aspirations inflated to a larger-than-life scale, and above all, the juxtaposition between past and present, and the transition from boy to man. In this journey, Julian seeks to come to terms with who he is and who he has become, while honoring and remembering the child that in truth might have never left.

Born and raised in Miami, Julian Henriquez has grown up exactly where the culture is. Heavily influenced by the artistry of his parents, Lisu Vega, designer and activist, and Juan Henriquez, abstract painter, Julian has inherited an eye for design and the ambition to get where he wants to go. Since infancy, he has been drawing. On the walls, on the floor, on himself, there was nowhere that couldn't be a canvas in his eyes. This passion only deepened when transferred to Miami Arts Charter School, where his love for all forms of art was given the space to flourish like never before, in mediums and methods unbeknownst to him until then. With the tools to hone his craft and the environment to support it, Julian was able to focus not only on the technical aspects of his art, but the deeper meaning and message behind it. While heavily influenced by his surroundings and upbringing, Julian's own vision has taken shape, blending where he came from with his own creative exploration, and where he is yet to go. Now, Julian Henriquez strives towards becoming a well respected, multi faceted artist, a vision that only grows broader with time.
